On July 19th (Wed), Hebei International Studies University in China gave the founder an award as a Honorary Professor. Mr. Sun Jianzhong, serving as the Chairman and the President in the university, visited Japan and expressed, "It feels like I am reading the books of Soka Gakkai and those of  Soka University," and also said, "I sincerely appreciate the heartfelt welcome from the students." During his remarks about our founder, he also mentioned the friendship between the founder and Prime Minister Zhou Enlai.

 

He repeatedly talked about preserving the friendship that Daisaku Ikeda has built with China, "Founder Ikeda, who is one of the dearest friend of Prime Minister Zhou, has cultivated this friendship with China, and I hope that the youth of both China and Japan will make the flowers of friendship bloom, and the fragrance will linger forever." It seems that he strongly desires the friendship between Japan and China. At the same he told his honest opinion about the friendship, “it requires time and effort to say that there is the great friendship.” His sincere demeanor was impressive.

 

During the ceremony, he presented various traditional Chinese crafts as gifts. Mr. Sun picked up each gift and explained evey single items about their meanings and the backgrounds such as history, geogray and etc.

On July 28th (Fri), University for Development and Innovation in Bolivia conferred an honorary doctorate on the founder, Daisaku Ikeda. The rector of the university José Antonio de Chazal Palomo visited Soka University. The students welcomed him and he expressed his delight, saying, "I'm very pleased to be welcomed by such wonderful students." Moreover, he emphasized the future connection and collaboration between the University for Development and Innovation and Soka University.
